The Dog

We live on a farm obvi, in May something started eating our chickens......I'm a crazy animal person so I wanted to get a barn dog to protect the chickens and the horses, have the dog in a kennel in the barn so he didn't have to get in a fight but would bark so my husband could go see what was out there. Instead of getting a pure bred dog I wanted to "save" an animal and get one from the pound, we didn't need a specific breed we just needed a dog with a long hair coat, instincs and to be good with the other dog, chickens, horses, cats and the baby. Those were the most important things to me. When I went to the animal protective league I told them what I was looking for and they almost turned me away because the dog was going to be outside and not inside. I got really mad but they let me take him on a trial period........This dog LOVES my husband whenever DH is outside working on anything that dog is with him, he jumps on all the hay wagons, follows him on the tractor, slids in the mud, rolls in sh*t, he is just the definition of an outside barn dog and he loves it!!!
I had a nanny for the summer because LO sleeps in and I didn't want to take her out of her envionment so early, plus we live in the boonies and it was 25 min out of the way to take her to daycare and since DH is farming in the summer he was no help, we knew a girl that was out for the summer before she started a job in Sept so she comes to our house to watch LO. The animal protective leauge came ot the house early last week to check on the dog, gave the nanny a hard time b/c she didn't know anything about the dog, (she knew he was out there but nothing else......she is taking care of my child not my animals!!!) and they said something to her b/c she wanted to go back in the house LO was napping.
They came back last night, both DH and I were home so we went out, she said it was sad that the dog was in the barn and not in the house interacting with us. I said LO is starting to crawl she is all over the house, I already sweep dog hair from the other dog, EVERY SINGLE DAY, I don't really want him in the house and I got him to protect our other animals, he can't do that in the house. He gets more attention when he is outside because it's him and DH......DH won't take the other dog out to do that stuff b/c he doesn't want her to be dirty around LO and in the house. (she obviously gets out to do her business). SHe did comment on how "nice of a place" we have and how clean it was.......so do you think we take care of everything else around her except for th dog??? (who was $100 bucks to adopt by the way).
POINT: WHile I was telling her about the dog hair and LO crawling she tells me she has 12 dogs in her house with a 20 month old..............OK she is worried about this dog getting attention, what about that baby that has to compete with 12 dogs to get attention?????
They said they would come back in 2 monts to check up.....I'm writing a letter b/c it would have been way easier for me to get a free mixed puppy from someone than paying 100 bucks for a dog I didn't know anything about and people to harass me, becasue they think I should have him inside.

The purpose

So now that you all know how we met and started out nice little life together I would like to tell you the purpose of this blog.

I, like so many, am a farmers wife. It is and isn't what you are thinking......I'm not talking about the basket weaving, wreath making, dough kneading, washing the clothes on a rock farmers wife. But rather the, working, picking up kids from the daycare, making sure they and everyone else has clean clothes for the morning, lunch packing, dinner making, all household chore doing, wanting to sometimes hurt your hay baling husband, farmers wife. ( I mean that in the most loving way possible :p)

I have to say I am in love with US Weekly and Reality TV - I watch and pick out the points in the show/magazine that I can relate to. I mostly think, I should have a reality TV show!!

I am reading Tori Spelling's book Mommywood and I understand where she is coming from but only from the view point of Farmywood. I will expand more on that another day.

I work in an office where there still are tapered leg jeans (still because they are from the 80's)permed mulletts, and the closest person to my age is 10 years older than me.

I also have a hard time finding things about this lifestyle. We are normal girls/women that like coach purses and waching the real housewives of Orange county but live no where close to a starbucks or saks. And if I read the last sentence to my farmer husband he doesn't know what a coach purse or a saks is..........

I thought maybe someone would get a kick out of relating to me or anything that happens in my life.

Ta-Ta~~

As my first post "farmers only"

This is my first post so it would only be appropriate to explain why I'm here or what this is even about eh?
Farmers only is an Internet dating site for....you guessed it farmers or wanna be farmers. I wouldn't have, in a million years, thought I would have gone on one of these sites let alone be married to someone I met on there....but here I am, living happily ever after :-)~
I was 25 living in Columbus, the big city, after I graduated from Ohio State, and had just broken up with a fiance, living alone with my dog. My daily routine consisted of, work, gym, dinner, walk the dog, riding horses, shower, bed. Where exactly was I going to meet someone who could work in an office during the day, like me complete with heels and all, then at night put on the work boots and clean out stalls?? I'm sure people do it everyday, I just didn't know who they were or how to meet them......and were they cute?!?

A farmer guy friend, well that's what I called him but I"m sure he told his buddies we were "together", called and told me he needed a camera because his cousin had told him about this website and the first so ever many people that posted on there would get a free membership. I am pretty sure he was fishing to see if his "girlfriend" would be OK with him posting a profile and picture on a website for a dating site. It was a GREAT IDEA!!!

To be perfectly honest I was doing quite well being "alone" but had decided after 6 months that starting to date was not a bad idea. I also had quite the list of, friends of friends, that were waiting for me..... I wasn't just going to wing it this time, I am a planning type of person and wanted to choose my dates carefully and not just because they winked at me from down the bar. Being able to view a picture and profile was just as good as an awkward first date, I'm in. I did not have the Internet at my apartment, because I spent a total of 10 hours there a day and 7-8 of those were sleeping, I packed up the lap top and trotted (pun intended) down to the coffee shop to see what my options were. 7 day free trial here I come!!!
Farmers only had a month free trial..Cha - Ching!! I could surely find a hot farmer guy here in a month.........

The Search: I did do some trial on Yahoo, Match, and a few others but the most outdoors people got in that area was walking their dog outside and possible playing Frisbee golf, which is fun by the way. There were a number of booty callers out there. My farmers only account was flatteringly doing quite well I was getting "winks" and "roses" everyday. In the farmers world it was kind of the mind set that, you come to them, in terms of where to live, my thought was what is the point in talking to the guy in WI when there was no way I was moving there.
I narrowed my search and didn't respond to some.....sorry :-)
There were cute little phrases that you could respond to when you got a "rose" one of which I used on my future husband "don't hide send me your picture"
I was not the most chatty via e mail until I got this picture..I"m sorry but there are reasons why people use the phrase "corn fed" and it's not just for cattle.

After I saw how cute GE was I was all about it. We chatted e mail for about a month, phone for about a month, then our 1st date. The rest is history. :-)
